They say that it’s not the destination, it’s the journey that matters. This is a statement that National Express has fully supported over the years, making it its mission to provide a safe, reliable and great value service for over 21 million passengers each year across the UK.

With over 1,800 buses and coaches, and hundreds of stops and stations served across the country, National Express is widely used by university students to go home for the weekend, catch up with friends at a different university, or even head to the airport, while keeping track of their budget.

Great value and convenience are two key factors for their customers, so when National Express looked for new opportunities to offer a better user experience in 2017, Amazon Pay was identified as the ideal alternative payment solution to achieve their goal. By enabling Amazon Pay with a seamless integration, customers are allowed to use their familiar Amazon login credentials, and the payment information stored in their Amazon account, to quickly and safely complete their tickets purchase.

At the end of 2019, National Express and Amazon strengthened their relationship by developing a Prime Student initiative, the first of its kind on a global level. The teams collaborated on a new integration, offering a 10% discount off standard and fully-flexible fares to university students who select Amazon Pay as a payment method at checkout. By again combining convenience and value, Amazon and National Express have come up with a smooth user journey. In fact, in order to redeem the offer customers do not need to set up a new account but just use their Prime Student membership and select Amazon Pay as their payment method.

In just a few months, this initiative has proved to be successful. So much so, that after witnessing the number of new or reactivated customers rise to 37%, National Express have decided to increase the discount offered to students to 15% from 17th September 2020.

If you are a university student, join Prime Student today to start saving on your National Express journeys by paying with Amazon Pay. If you are a merchant and would like to know more about Amazon Pay and its features, get in touch.
